June 2013 - Family Camp
We quickly breezed through our AGM on
Friday evening but, before we went on to
munch a whole spit-roasted lamb with home
made focaccia bread and salad, we had a
real success to celebrate. Freddie was
presented with his Chief Scout's Bronze
Award. We're in the amazing position of
having members of the Beaver Colony, Cub
Pack and Scout Troop each achieving the
award this month - not bad for a group that's
only 20 months old!
The weather really blessed the camp and
we enjoyed a wide range of activities while
basking in the sunshine. On Saturday, the
main activity was archery, but alongside that
we ran firelighting & backwoods cooking,
icing biscuits (well done to Natasha for
having the best decorated and Alfie for
being a close second), a treasure hunt
around the campsite & scarecrow making.
We had another fantastic bbq with
spit-roasted chickens, ribs, burgers &
Andy's tasty homemade bbq sauce before
our evening campfire.
Sunday morning broke with the traditional cooked breakfast and the camp was slowly cleared away whilst we enjoyed more activities including rifle
shooting, horseshoe pitching, a mystery string trail. We ended with a lots of water fun including a water slide which certainly seemed very popular.
All in all, it was a great weekend and we're looking forward to next year!
