About Us

Based in Southgate, close to the town centre and Goff’s Park, we can trace our heritage back to the first Scout troop in Crawley.

Our aim is to give our local children the skills, self-confidence and awareness to; ‘Do their best’ in an ever-changing world; to understand and ‘Be prepared’ for all environments in which they may find themselves and to have respect for all those we share our planet with.

We also aim to have a lot of fun in the process, so there are lots of games, running about and a fair amount of noise too!

We make regular use of our local campsite at Pease Pottage every term and many of our meetings are held there during the warmer months.

Our trained leaders are all volunteers and between them they have permits for; Archery, Air Rifle Shooting, Mountaineering, Hiking, Camping and we use local activity centres for; Abseiling, Canoeing, Climbing, Zip Wire, Leap of Faith and more!

We have at least 2 exciting UK mountain trips every year, in May we go to Snowdonia and in October we go to the Brecon Beacons, plus many hikes around the Sussex and surrounding countryside throughout the year.
