Brecon Beacons 2025
1st Crawley Scouts took part in another memorable expedition to the Brecon Beacons this half term. We stayed at the cozy Tyle Morgrug bunkhouse.
Our first challenge was testing out all our wet weather gear and layers on a very windy hike up towards Pen y Fan. The Welsh weather gods forced us to divert to a safer route just below Corn Du, but everyone learnt a lot on the walk. Later some of us made the most of the wet weather on a waterfall walk from the house.
Day 3 bought our 2nd major challenge – caving at Eglwys Faen – and what a day it was! We were tested to our limits – squeezing and contorting through holes and slithering through very low cave ceilings.
Thanks to Black Mountain Adventure for keeping us safe in the caves, Holy Trinity School for saving us with last minute use of their minibus when our planned one fell through and Chichester District Scouts for their lovely bunkhouse. An amazing trip with courageous Scouts!
