Family Camp 2023
Phew, what a scorcher!
On the second weekend of September we held our annual Family Camp – our first since the pandemic. Perfectly timed for the hottest day of the year, there were plenty of activities to keep all entertained, plus lots of time to relax and cool down with a cold drink in the shade.
Once everyone had arrived and set up camp, we headed off to the archery area for some target practice with Kelly and Adam. Think we may have some budding archers in our midst!
After some lunch (hot dogs, yum!) there was a chance to run Anna’s orienteering course. I think its safe to say it was getting quite competitive to see who could be the quickest!
As the afternoon heated up, we headed into the woods to find materials for den building. With no chance of rain, we didn’t have to worry too much about waterproofness!
Finally after a fantastic dinner of Andy’s trademark mac’n’cheese, the campfire was lit. Lots of marshmallows to toast and make s’mores followed by a traditional campfire sing song.
After a very warm night, we awoke to a touch of mist. But it didn’t last long. Breakfast, a few games and some more orienteering, then it was time to strike camp and bring another Family Camp to an end.
Big thanks to the leaders for making this happen, and to everyone who attended for making it a great weekend.
Hope to see you again next year!
